Three events of Dominion-wide interest and importance were allocated to the Pioneer Motor Club at the recent New Zealand Auto-Cycle Union conference at Marton, these being the N. reliability trial (which the club proposes to run over King’s Birthday week-end of next year), the South Island beach championships (250 c.c., 350 c.c., and 500 c.c.), and the quarter-mile track'championship.

A STOP LIGHT TROUBLE

In cars in which the brake pedal and emergency hand-brake lever are interconnected, a small trouble which may have very annoying results occasionally develops. As most motorists are aware, the stop-light is operated by the pedal, but not by the hand brake. Consequently, if the pedal shaft has become dirty, so that the pedal will not easily return to the off position, pulling on the hand-brake may leave the pedal down. This, in turn, will leave the stoplight switched on, and if the car is left in this manner in the garage, and hot used for a few days, this may result in the battery running down sufficiently to prevent the starter being used. The cure is to keep the brake pedal shaft oiled and free.
