WELLINGTON, August 28.

The weather forecast for Canterbury and Marlborough, issued at 5 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: —

Moderate to strong north-east-erly winds prevailing. Weather dull, and in places misty or foggy, with Intermittent rain or drizzle. Temperatures moderate. Seas rather rough to rough.

WEST COAST - The following is the forecast for the West Coast of the South Island:—

Moderate to fresh winds between east and. north. Weather cloudy to overcast, and in places misty, with rain at times. Temperatures moderate. Seas moderate.

DOMINION The following is the Dominion f cast:—

Weather cloudy to overcast, and In places misty or foggy, with further rain in most districts, but more especially in eastern areas—particularly between East Cape and Kaikoura, where some heavy falls are probable. Temperatures moderate to mild. A shallow cyclonic depression is located to the west of the Auckland peninsula, and pressure is, very low over south-eastern Australia and the southern Tasman Sea. Pressure is still high to the east of the Dominion.

Winds—Between east and north prevailing, moderate to strong generally, and reaching gale force in exposed positions.

Seas (New Zealand waters)— Rough to high north of East Cape and rough elsewhere on the east coast and also north of Farewell Spit; moderate south of Farewell Spit. Eastern Tasman Sea—Moderate to strong winds, between north-westerly and north-easterly, with rather rough seas.

CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER

The weather in Christchurch during the week-end was overcast with intermittent light rain. A strong easterly wind was blowing on both days, reaching maximum force during Saturday night.. Temperatures were moderate.

At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was cloudy and a strong north-east wind was blowing. The temperature was 50 degrees, and the barometer, falling, recorded 29.87 inches.
