MAN INJURED ON MAUI POMARE
SPEED INCREASED TO REACH LYTTELTON
ROUGH SEAS ON VOYAGE

Although she had previously advised that she would arrive at Lyttelton at daybreak to-day, the Government motor-ship Maui Pomare berthed at 9.30 p.m. yesterday, speed having been accelerated because a member of the crew had met with an accident and was in need o{ medical attention. The injured man was a steward, L. Silvester, of Christchurch, who lost his hold and fell down a companion-way on Friday. He was attended on arrival at Lyttelton by the Port Health Officer, Dr. C. H. Uphara, who found him to be suffering from severe bruises and strain to the back and sides. He will be sent to the Christchurch Hospital this morning for an X-ray examination. - . The Maui Pomare had a very rough trip on the latter part of the voyage from Apia, with very heavy seas. The vessel carried a full complement of passengers, and their arrival in port was to them a welcome relief. The Passengers , The following passengers arrived by the vessel:—Misses E. Heenan, M.
