MR A. L. BURK APPOINTED
\rmifl AIIOCIATIOB TELBQIAH.) WELLINGTON, August 26. The appointment of Mr A. L. Burk as Thames Borough Commissioner was announced to-night by the Minister for Internal Affairs (the Hon. W. E. Parry). Mr Burk is relinquishing the position of town clerk of Green Island. He is 38 years of age, and is very well known in municipal affairs in New Zealand. Starting his career with the Duniedin City Council, Mr Burk gained (general and practical knowledge of
local government and administrative work. After serving four and a half years with the Dunedin City Council he went to the St. Kilda Borough Council, remaining with that council as assistant town clerk for three and a half years. In November, 1934, Mr Burk wa appointed to the position of town clerk and treasurer of the borough of Green Island, with which council he has since been continuously associated.
