TENNIS CLUB AT. RAKAIA
— _♦ CONSIDERABLE INCREASE IN MEMBERSHIP The annual meeting of the Rakaia Tennis Club was held in the public library on Wednesday evening. Mr D. Scott presided. The secretary’s report showed the season had not been very successful, because of wet weather, but the mem, bership had' increased ' considerably. Championship and handicap tournaments were held. The balance-sheet showed a credit of £5 17s s*d. The election of officers resulted:— Patron, Mr C. Garrigon; president. Dr. E. Candy; vice-presidents, Messrs S. Wright, W. Lee, S. Bryant, the Rev. D. B. Ashford. Canon H. J. W. Knights: club captain, Mr D. Scott; vice-captain. Miss M. Brown; secretary and treasurer. Mr K. Fryer; delegates to MidCanterbury County Club Association. Messrs C. J. Ryan and K. Fryer; committee, Misses S. Breach. M. Cromie. M. Kenward, M. Rapley, J. Breach, M. Brown. Messrs D. Scott, K. Fryer, H. Freer, R. Buchanan, A. Beaton, C. J. Ryan.
