CHINESE FINED
A OPIUM SMOKING CHARGES (FEEriS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, August 18. After a raid in Haining street, George Wong, aged 60, was fined £IOO as the occupier of premises used for the smoking of opium. Default was fixed at three months’ imprisonment. Half the fine is to be paid within a fortnight. Several Chinese found on the premises were fined £2O each, in default three weeks’ gaol.
