N.Z. BASKETBALL TEAM AT MELBOURNE
FAVOURABLE IMPRESSION MADE IN PRACTICE MATCH (Received August 11, 11-30 p.m.) MELBOURNE, August 11. The New Zealand basketball team at its first practice match at Melbourne beat University High by 35 points to 25. The New Zealanders’ positional play and two-handed passing created a favourable impression. The visitors lost possession at the bounce, otherwise the score would have been higher. The one-handed pass used by the Australians was difficult to handle. The New Zealanders are now proving more at home with the Australian footwork rules. Joan Tyrrell, J, Willson, and T. Neame combined well in the forward third, Miss Tyrrell being the most accurate. M. Martin, F. Southon, R. Butcher, and the captain, J Mitchell, completed the New Zealand team.
