GAMES POSTPONED All basketball matches at South Hagley Park have been cancelled owing to the condition of the grounds.
A survey published by the Italian National Institute of Statistics ranks Italy second among European producers of tobacco with an annual output of 88,184,0001 b, equivalent to the nation’s yearly consumption. Greece is Europe’s greatest tobacco producer, with an annual growth of 100,230,0001 b. In 1922 Italy imported 80 per cent, of its tobacco. Only a few thousand acres in Apulia and Abruzzo were used to grow it. Statistics now show that 82,500 acres are tiffed in various regions. The principal qualities grown are tropical Brazilian tobacco, Oriental Macedonian tobacco, and Maryland, Kentucky, Burley and Bright. The Government holds a nationalrnonopoly on tobacco sale with a profit of about 130,000,000 dollars a year. This profit is made on the production of cigarettes, cigars. 15,000.0001 b of smoking tobacco, and 3,000,0001 b of snuff.
