THE VISITOR
One night, when my mother and father were sitting In the drawingroom, they heard a noise that sounded like a cat pulling our wood down. At last they could bear it no longer, so daddy went out, expecting to see a cat, but instead he saw an animal that looked like a squirrel! A lady was staying with us, and she said she thought it was an opossum. The
next morning I asked the milkman if he had ever seen one in Amberley, and he said that they come after the walnuts. I, did not see it myself, but mummy told me about it. —THERESA TAYLOR (aged 7), “The Vicarage,” Amberley.
“MY BIRTHDAY”
I had a lot of presents for my birthday. I got a big box of paints with 57 colours. Grandma gave me some blocks. My auntie gave me “Snakes and Ladders” and a' handkerchief, 'dad gave me a dolls’ house, and mummy, gave me a Bible. —JOAhf HENDERSON (aged 7), 43 St. James avenue.
