Sitting betide the radio on a recent Sunday we were at New York when Howard Hughes took off ... and on the Saturday we listened in to the Hollywood premiere of “ Marie Antoinette,’’ starring Norma Shearer, and heard every star and near-star in Hollywood speak into the mike. And a week or so age we heard the Richard Tauber concert from Melbourne. There’s plenty of things happening. Most of them happen on the air as well. If you haven’t get a radio that brings in short-wave and gives you really good broadcast listening from overseas stations, then you’re missing something. If you’d like to have an Oxford on trial for a day or two you’d find this out for yourself. You’d find, too, that the Oxford has all the features that all good radios have, plus a few the others haven’t. But more important than that ... it will give you programmes from here, there, and everywhere . . . with pleasing fidelity . . . with volume in reserve ... so that you sit back and enjoy it and forget that you’re even listening to radio.
