MR SAVAGE AND FINANCE

TO THE EDITOR OF THE TRESS. Sir,— Referring to. the reply of Mr Savage to'the adverse criticism of Mr Lefeaux and the directors of the Reserve Bank regarding the financial methods of the Government, all I can say is that Mr Savage, by his wide personal experience in various forms of industry, must surely be considered a better qualified judge as to finance than Mr Lefeaux. But joking apart, the position has its serious side, for should Mr Lefeaux resign owing to his unwillingness to carry out the directions of the Government, it would undoubtedly most seriously affect the credit of the country which unfortunately does not stand too well at the present time.—Yours, etc., NEW ZEALANDER. Jyly 28, 1938.
