MALE VOICE CHOIR
For the forthcoming concert of the Male Voice Choir, under the direction of Professor J. C. Bradshaw, Mus.D., the assisting artists will be Miss Audrey Holdgate, of Timaru, a soprano who is new to Christchurch, and Miss Nancy Estall (’cellist). The choir’s programme is a very interesting one, comprising Mendelssohn’s virile cantata. “To the Sons of Art,” and five new'part-songs. Among these are Cyril Jenkins’s striking modern setting of Masefield’s “Sea Fever”; Thomas Weelkes’s attractive madrigal, “The Nightingale,” with its charming cuckoo effects; H. S. Robertson’s arrangement of a “Highland Love Song,” and Zelter’s “Dr. St. Paul,” a humorous piece in the style of Handel. The choir soloists are Messrs H. W. Findlay and D. H. Law.
