ANTI-SEMITISM IN POLAND
* EXPROPRIATION PLANS IN DANZIG LONDON, July 27. The Warsaw correspondent of the "Manchester Guardian" states that a new anti-Jewish campaign has opened in Danzig with the object of expropriating industrial property Nazis are supervising all the Jewish metal firms, the owners having either been arrested because of expropriation, or driven to commit suicide. M. Max Chaschall, director of the oldest metal firm, jumped from a window and was killed as the police arrived to arrest him. Three other directors have been imprisoned by the Gestapo (German secret police). German firms operating in Poland have been ordered not to deal with Jews. The newspapers are asking why Nazi laws can be enforced in Poland by Germans who are Polish citizens.
