The Hon. G. R. Hunter, M.L.C., returned from Wellington by the steamer express yesterday morning. Mr H. Holland arrived in Christchurch by the steamer express from the north yesterday morning. Mr T. H. McCombs, M.P., who arrived in Christchurch from the north by the steamer express yesterday morning, left again last evening on his return to Wellington. Professor E. Percival was appointed a supernumerary member of the council of the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society at a meeting of the council last evening. The Rev. W. E. D. Davies, vicar of St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, St. Albans, has been appointed an honorary chaplain to the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (New Zealand Division), for service with the Canterbury division.
