♦- MR SAVAGE DECLINES TO BE DRAWN [From Our Parliamentary Reporter.] WELLINGTON, July 27. "If the Government is returned to power at the coming election, what dpes it propose to do about the country quota?" This question was asked of the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage) by Mr C. A. Wilkjnson (Independent, Egmont) during the financial debate in the House oi Representatives to-night, but Mr Savage oecined to answer him. . ‘Tshould like to ask the Prime Minister what the Government intends to do about the country quota if it is returned to office at the election *“is year,’’ Mr Wilkinson said. ’ Mr J. O'Brien (Government, Westyand): Put it on the order paper. “I want to know the Government’s intentions on this vital question to ' •! c ,? untr y people," Mr Wilkinson said, “but as I receive no answer, it obviously means that it proposes to do.someth*nr; harmful to the interests ’ of the country people. I am entitled to an answer.” Mr Savage; I am not under crossexamination. Mr Wilkinson; I am entitled to ask 'he question though. The country will get the answer, out you won’t,’’ Mr Savage replied.
