I ♦ OFFICIAL FORECASTS [THE PRESS Special Service.] WELLINGTON. July 27. The weather forecast for Canterbury and Marlborough, issued at 5 p.m. by the Meteorological Office. Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the lime of issue, is as follows: Lisht to fresh east to north-east winds prevailing, but later tending to southerly and increasing. Weather dull and misty, with Intermittent rain. Some snow on the ranges. Temperatures cold. Seas moderate to rather rough. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Light to fresh east to north-east winds, later tending more southerly. Weather cloudy to overcast, with intermittent rain. Some snow on the ranges. Improving later. Seas slight to moderate. DOMINION The Dominion forecast is:— ' . Weather cloudy to overcast, and In places misty or foggy. Fairly general rain probable, with some 'heavy falls In the central provinces. Snow on the ranges. Temperatures becoming colder. An extensive and rather deep depression is centred west of the Auckland peninsula. An anti-cy-clone of alight intensity covers eastern Australia. • Winds —South-east to north-cast prevailing, light to moderate mainly, but » strong in some exposed positions; later winds backing to west and south-west in the far north, and elsewhere turning to south-east or southerly and freshening. Seas (New Zealand waters)— Light to moderate south of Farewell Spit; elsewhere mainly rather rough to rough. ' Eastern Tasman Sea—Moderate to strong south-east to southerly winds and rough seas. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER Rain, which began on Tuesday night, fell steadily in Christchurch all day yesterday. The weather was still wet last night, although the rain was not so heavy as during the day.
