Nomads have made one step towards the South Island and possibly the New Zealand final in the Chatham Cup competition. Western was the previous holder of the cup; but unconvincing form in the championship games this season made its defeat by Nomads not unexpected. Nomads, after several lean years, have built up a strong combination, and on form it should take an extremely strong side to lower its colours.
