SOUTHLAND’S POWER SUPPLY
+ NEED FOR LINK WITH WAITAKI EMPHASISED [From Our Parliamentary Reporter.] WELLINGTON, July 26. The necessity of providing power for Southland from the Waitaki hydroelectric power station before the peak of the coming dairy season in November was emphasised by Mr J. Hargest (National. Awarua) in giving T/Otice of a question addressed Vo tire Minister for Public Works in the House of Representatives to-day. In asking the Minister to take whatever steps might be necessary to ensure the extension of the Waitaki sup-
ply before November, Mr Hargestsaid the growth in the demand for electricity, combmed. with the last dry season, had necessitated strict rationing of the present supply. Great inconvenience had been experienced by dairy farmers, industrialists, and householders generally.
