ORPHANAGES’ APPEAL
CONCERT AT RADIANT HALL
TO-NIGHT
The annual appeal for help for the orphanages of Christchurch (Anglican Presbyterian, and Methodist) will be assisted by a grand concert at the Radiant Hall to-night. The full programme will be broadcast by Station 3YA, commencing at 8 o’clock. Included in the programme are items by the Christchurch Cathedral GrammarSchool boys’ choir, under Mr C. Foster Browne, and the Christchurch Liedertafel, which will be associated with the boys’ choir in two of its items and will also be responsible for the second half of the programme. Among the soloists are Clarice Inglis, Thelma Cusack. Vera Martin, and Rex Harrison. An interesting radio play ‘‘The Mule,” will also be presented by the Civic Players. A similar concert, which was organised to help last year’s appeal, raised more than £7OO, and as this included collections taken up by those listening in at their own homes, it is hoped that the same practice will bo followed this year. Tickets for the concert arc Is 6d and to encourage the attendance of parties, tickets will be sold in lots of 20 for £l. The tickets arc obtainable at the D.I.C. or Hay’s, Ltd.
