INTER-SCHOOL MATCH RANGIORA HIGH SCHOOL BEATS ST. BEDE’S The annual Rugby match between St Bede’s College second fifteen and the Rangiora High School first fifteen was played at Rangiora yesterday. The home team won by 20 points to 0. The teams were:— Rangiora High School —A. Martin, L. Cook. P. Coleman, J. Meyer, B. Bennett S. Montgomery, E. Feary, K. Wells, B Scott, G. Burney, K. Stevenson, M. Smith, G. Smith, J. Lockhart, E. Gardner. St. Bede’s College—G. Pearce, I. Wilson, C. Anderson, H. Lockington, H. Lewis. V, Meahan, H. Poff, E. Nelson, J. Macguire, P. Lister, D. Duncan F. Sullivan, J. O’Callaghan, G. Donohue. J. Martin. The Rangiora team was superior in every department. Outstanding for Rangiora was the second five-eighths. S. Montgomery, who showed decided skill in cutting-in. He scored one try and started several movements that led to tries. J. Meyer, on the wing shone on the attack, and was also good on defence. He scored two tries, one of which was converted by P. Coleman Coleman also opened Rangiora’s scoring by kicking a penalty in the early stages. B. Scott, an outstanding forward, was always on the ball and took part in several sound dribbling rushes, one of which he headed to score a neat try. The score at halftime was—Rangiora 14, St. Bede’s 0 St. Bede’s played better in the second half, the backs throwing the ball about more, and both backs and forwards combined in some spectacular passing rushes. The spoiling tactics of their opponents, however, nullified the movements and play was again confined to St. Bede’s territory. The first try in the second half was scored by Bennett, who. at first five-eighths secured the ball from the half-back, and cut-in brilliantly to score one of the best tries of the game. Shortly afterwards, J. Meyer raced down the line and scored in the corner, the game ending—Rangiora 20, St. Bede’s 0. The referee was Mr F. Burgess. APPOINTMENT OF REFEREE Mr F. Quigley has been appointed to referee the senior- Rugby match Glenmark v. North Canterbury, in the North Canterbury Sub-Union competitions on Saturday. BANKS PENINSULA MATCH A Banks Peninsula Rugby competition match was played on Saturday at Little River between Little River juniors and Eastern Bays. Eastern Bays won by 31 points to 6. Scorers for Eastern Bays were Narbey (three tries), Cusdin (field goal and one try), Kotlowskl (one try), A. Harris (two tries), and Cusdin converted three tries. For Little River Vanstone and Tini scored one try each. Mr A. A. Radford was referee. MISSIONARY UNION AT DARFIELD The Rev. Dr. Paterson presided over a good attendance at the annual meeting of the Darfleld branch of the Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union. The report and balance-sheet showed a satisfactory position. Knitted _ vests were handed in for the Maori mission. It was decided to hold a bring-and-b-.:y at the annual congregational meeting next Vnonth. A letter was read from Sister Alice, deaconess at Dunedin South. The following officers were elected: Honorary president, the Rev. Dr. Paterson; president, Mrs G. C. Warren; secretary, Mrs W.
