EXPERT EVIDENCE AT INQUEST LONDON, July 2. At the inquest on Colin Byar, a New Zealand airman, who was fatally injured when his aeroplane crashed in Surrey in April last, a verdict of death through misadventure was returned. Byar lived lor three days with a broken neck. Byar’s companion, Ernest Ratcliffe, another New Zealander, suffered a broken thigh. An Air Ministry expert disclosed that Byar was participating in searchlight exercises on an exceptionally cold night at a height of 6000 feet. He gave as his opinion that Byar suddenly descended and the change of temperature stopped the engines.
