EXTENSION OF AUCKLAND POWER SERVICE

PROGRAMME COSTING £496.000

SUBMITTED [THE PRESS Special Service.] AUCKLAND, July 4. A capital expenditure of about £490,000 is likely to be required by the Auckland Electric Power Board to extend its system within the next three or four years. An estimate to this effect was submitted by the manager of the board (Mr R. H. Bartley) to a meeting of the board to-day. The report will be considered by the board in committee in conjunction with a review of the board’s financial position.

In his report. Mr Bartley said that saturation point in the use of electricity in Auckland was too far away to be seriously considered at present. The proposed extensions represented another stage in the development of the board’s organisation.
