IS IT CHARITY?
TVfR B. AHLFELD requests town and country citizens to decide whether or not it is a charitable act nected with street collections use tents and stalls in the city streets to sell gebds in opposition to struggling women and other shopkeepers? Surely it is contrary to the principles of “Fair Play” to allow this competition to continue. Nor is it a charitable act to use badges as a “threat” to entice the people to make donations to those organisations which are not appreciated in the form of charitable administrating institutions. As a matter of fact, street appeals are not the correct procedure at any time, and the people should refuse to encourage this degrading method of obtaining "easy money.” 3533
