PRIME MINISTER AT AUCKLAND

STRENUOUS ROUND OF ENGAGEMENTS (PEESS ASSOCIATION TEI.SORAU.) AUCKLAND, July 3. A cheering crowd of supporters warmly welcomed the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage) on his arrival at the railway station yesterday morning. It was a spontaneous and informal greeting, in which the Mayor (Sir Ernest Davis), and local Labour leaders took part. Mr Savage, who was accompanied by Mr C. A. Jeffery, chief private secretary. Mr R. Riley, of the Prime Minister’s Department, and the Hon. D. Wilson, secretary of the New Zealand Labour Party, entered a strenuous round of engagements by opening a hew school at the Orakei State suburb. Other arrivals were the Minister for Internal Affairs (the Hon. W, E. Parry) and the Director of Housing (Mr J. A. Lee. M.P.). Both attended the opening of the school. Mr Savage left for Wellington again by the Limited express this evening.
