ARTICLES FOB CENTENNIAL EXHIBITION'

LONDON, June 8. The Queen has “most gladly acceded to a request that both she and Princess Elizabeth should lend some object of interest for exhibition m the women’s section of the centennial exbibition to be held at Wellington. Her Majesty’s decision was communicated in a letter received by the High Commissioner for New Zealand (Mr W- J. Jordan) from Major streamer , private secretary to the Queen._ It was a result of an invitation extended by the executive of the women s section & the® exhibition, which was conveyed to Major Streatfleld by Mr C. P- Halnsworth, the business manager. now in London, The King’s private secretary, who was present when Mr Hamsworth saw Major Streatfleld, inquired whether it was desired that the King might also be approached to lend some object of interest for the exhibition. He was thanked by Mr Hamsworth, who said that he would be glad to communicate the inquiry to Wellmg*°lt is not yet known what items the §ueen will select to be sent to New ealand.

STUDENTS’ DANCE

Excellent arrangements were made by the students of Helen Connon Hall for their annual dance held at the hall last evening.
