LYTTELTON NEWS

DAMAGE BY SLIPS

Several slips occurred in and round Lyttelton on Thursday night and yesterday morning as a result of the continued rain. One large slip across Evans Pass main highway, near Lyttelton, almost blocked the road, and cars could pass it only with great difficulty. There were several smaller slips on the same road. On Thursday night a stone wall at a house on Cressy terrace, owned by the Railway Department, and occupied by the stationmaster, Mr A. K. Dyne, collapsed, and a large amount of spoil and stone fell against the house, breaking a window.
