MISSIONARY UNION AT MAYFIELD

The annual meeting of the Mayfield branch of the Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union was held in the church vestry on Thursday afternoon, with the Rev. J. S. Freeman presiding. The annual report of the secretary showed a good year of activity, and the treasurer’s report showed a credit balance of £lB 9s 4d, which was allocated as follows: Training Institute £l, women workers’ superannuation fund £2, New Zealand Chinese Fund £l, and £l4 to the Maori mission, home mission, and foreign missions of the church. A letter was received from Sister Alice of the South Dunedin parish relating to the work there. The following officers were elected for the year:—Honorary president, Rev. J. S. Freeman; president, Mrs J. S. Freeman: vice-presidents. Mesdamgs W. T. Elmslie and W. S. Greenslade; corresponding members’ secretary, Mrs W. S. Greenslade; branch secretary, Mrs D. Edmond; treasurer, Mrs G. A. Meikle; Harvest Field secretary. Mrs C. Sewell: Oriental secretary, Mrs G. J. Murdoch; arrowroot secretary. Mrs D. Edmond; mission box secretary. Mrs A. Murdoch; Maori Mission Birthday League fund secretary. Mrs L. C. McIlroy. The stamp collection to be in charge of the Busy Bees. During the year a branch of the uinon had been formed at Carew, and good work was being done there. The Rev. J. S. Freeman gave an interesting address to the members on the life of Albert Schweitzer.
