ROYAL AIR FORCE ACCIDENT

NEW ZEALANDER AMONG THE VICTIMS LONDON, June 22. One of those drowned when two Royal Air Force torpedo bombers crashed into the sea after a collision during exercises off Port Swettenham, in the Malay States, was a New Zealander, Pilot Officer Hugh Angus Bethune. Pilot Officer Bethune was a son of Mrs Bethune, widow of Mr Walter E. Bethune. He was 23 years of age. He started flying four years ago at Rongotai, and in June, 1936, left for England to join the Royal Air Force. He was transferred to Singapore last February.
