NEW ZEALANDER AT HOME
DERBY DAY IMPRESSIONS (By CARBINE.) A New Zealand horse owner who was at Epsom on Derby Day expresses a little surprise that Pasch should have been favourite. He does not pretend to be conversant with English form, but describes the horse as “very ponyish.” In a letter I received from him this week, he said Gordon Richards would strike a New Zealander as a particularly good rider. The totalisator (2s tickets) pays to the penny. The Derby winner’s. odds were the equivalent of about a score, and the last winner of the day was at little better than evens, but the totalisator double (10s tickets) returned more than £7OO.
