SHEEP AND CATTLE PRICES LOWER FIRMER MARKETS ON STOCK EXCHANGES —- 14 * Heavy entries at yesterday’s weekly fat stock market at Addington caused an easing in the values of fat sheep and fat cattle compared with those of the previous week. Sheep were easier on an average by a little more than a shilling a head and fat cattle by about 15s. Fat lambs and fat pigs sold under keen competition at the best of recent values.

The Christchurch Stock Exchange was quiet yesterday, but the prices of most of the stocks dealt in were firmer. Business was practically confined to industrial and mining shares. Taranaki Oils rose sharply to 14s and 14s 3d. Turnover on the Sydney exchange was much smaller than on Tuesday, there being less evidence of profit-taking. Most leading industrials made fair headway and the rising trend of base metal shares continued. Taranakis were sold at 14s IJd.
