RESULTS OP PLAY ON “LADIES* DAY” SENORITA LIZANA BEATEN IN SECOND ROUND * LONDON, June 21. “Ladies’ Day” at the English lawn tennis championships at Wimbledon was sizzling hot. Mrs J. B. Pittman was unable to reply to the superior versatility and vigorous driving of Miss Nancy Wynne (Australia). Miss Hardwick was superior to Miss Joan Hartigan (Australia) in a harddriving match. Mile. Jedrzejowska (Poland), last year’s runner-up, produced a stream of beautiful drives to defeat Miss D. Stevenson (Australia), who made a gallant fight. Miss- Thelma Coyne (Australia) had an easy victory over Miss M. Yorke (Britain). The versatile doubles player, Mme. Mathieu, who beat Senorita Lizana (Chile) in the quarter-final last year, repeated her victory in the second round to-day. The Chilean failed to produce her usual clever game. Pittman (Britain), 6-3, 6-0. Miss S. Noel (Britain) beat Miss Wilson (Australia), 6-2, 6-3. Miss M. E. Lumb (Britain) beat Miss O. Craze (South Africa), 6-0, 6-3. Frau Sperling (Germany) beat Miss H. Kovac (Jugoslavia), 6-1, 6-2. Miss Helen Jacobs (U.S.A.) beat Miss M.' Whitmarsh (Britain), 6-0, 6-1.

Second Round Miss Alice Marble (U.S.A.) beat Miss Cootes (Britain), 6-0, 6-2. Mme. Mathieu (France) beat Senorita Lizana (Chile), 6-4, 6-4. Miss K.
