PRESS COMMENT IN FRANCE
AGREEMENT WELCOMED AS CHECK TO ITALY (Received June 23, 1 a.m.) PARIS, June 22. The entire press welcomes the result of the Non-Intervention Committee meeting and Mr Chamberlain’s statement. The outcome of the meeting is generally interpreted as a check to Italy. “Le Jour” states: “The agreement removes every pretext for delays from Rome in concluding a FrenchItalian pact, without which the British-Italian pact is valueless.”
