MAGISTRATES COURT
WEDNESDAY (Before Mr F, F. Reid, S.M.) REMAND-GRANTED , A remand until June 27 was granted in a cast in which Sybil Rachael Wilson (Mr W. F. Tracy) was charged with attempting to obtain from J. Ballantyne and Company two pairs of gloves, of a total Value of £1 9s 6d, by false pretences. TRAFFIC PROSECUTIONS ' Alphonsus Sheehan, for driving at a speed which might have been dangerous to the public, was convicted and fined £2 and was ordered;to pay costs. James Swarbrick was fined 30s and was ordered to pay costs for riding a motor-cycle in a manner which might have' been dangerous to the public. Steven Flewellyn was fined 10s and ordered to pay costs for having no warrant of fitness for his motor-cycle. These three prosecutions vere brought by Inspector G. E. Stokes, of the Waimairi County Council. ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY CASES Lancelot Vernon Davidson, Hugh Gillan, and James Henry Gillan were each fined the minimum penalty of £5 and were ordered to pay costs for shooting grey duck without a licence. Thomas Mortland, David. Mortland, and lan McNab were each fined 30s and were ordered to pay costs for shooting from a mia mia at Lake Ellesmere in more than two feet of water. * Mr M. J. Gresson prosecuted for the North . Canterbury Acclimatisation Society.
