BOXING
♦ GANZON TO MEET CLARK TWO AGGRESSIVE FIGHTERS An aggressive boxer, who has won eight of his 12 most recent bouts by knock-outs, “Snowy” Clark, lightweight champion of Western Australia, will be Doramy Ganzon’s opponent in a professional match in the King Edward Barracks on Saturday night. Clark brings as one recommendation to Christchurch audiences the fact that he has to his credit a knock-out win over Dal Costa, who has boxed here, in the second round. He has also beaten Mickey Miller on points over 12 rounds. A good, aggressive boxer, Clark is the opposite in style to Henry Dunn, who met Ganzon last week, and he appeals as being just the type of fighter to suit the Filipino’s brilliant attacking style. Ganzon is at his best against an aggressive, hard-hitting man, a claim well borne out by his record of fights in Australia and America. In his bout with Clark, Ganzon will be under no disadvantage of weight. Both men are about the same. The bout means much to Ganzon this week, for he has to win to qualify for a bout with Mickey Miller.
An excellent programme of amateur preliminaries will be provided. Norman Fisher will meet Wheeler, the Otago champion, over six rounds, Jacky O'Connor will meet Ramsay, Jim Musson has been matched with Bryan O’Donoghue, and Garty, the Celtic Club boxer, will meet W. Jaggers. There will also be a return bout between, Morris and Jarvis—who fought such a good bout the night of the Ganzon-Hamilton match.
