RECEPTION TO INDIAN PLAYERS
Arrangements for the reception in Christchurch of the Prince of Manayadar’s Indian hockey team were made last evening at a meeting of the management committee of the Canterburv Hockey Association. The team will arrive from the West Coast on the evening of Thursday, June 30. The committee decided that an informal reception by the Mayor (Mr R. M. Macfarlane) and members of the committee should be held at the United Service Hotel on the same evening. Members of the management committee will meet the team at the railway station at 5 p.m. As curtain-raisers to the match between the Indian team and Canterbury at Lancaster Park on July 2, the committee approved proposals for arranging representative trial basketball matches, and a gymnastic display. It was decided to insure the match against rain.
