CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION’S / MEMBERSHIP / A membership of 258 Is reported in t the review of the year’s work of the Canterbury Justices of the Peace As- < sociation, to be presented to the annual meeting of the association on Mon-, day. The year began with a roll of ' 252 members, but 10 were lost by death and five by transfers. However, 21 new members were enrolled after the appointment of new justices in July. Social functions, a church parade, and the annual bowling match with the Christchurch Centre, were among the activities of the association. The rules were revised and an executive considered an anomaly in the Invalidity Pensions Act. the act later being amended as suggested. . The balance-sheet shows a credit of £6 10s, compared with one of £23 12s 7d last year. Assets are shown to exceed liabilities by £36 15s.
