TENDERS TO BE CALLED
SWIMMING POOL FOR FRESH-AIR HOME PROVISION FOR SUNBATHING Tenders are to be called for the erection of a cold-water open-air swimming pool at the Children’s Fresh-Air Home on Cashmere Hills, above the sanatprium, it was decided at yesterday’s meeting of the North Canterbury Hospital Board. Provision will be made in the building for an area for sun-, bathing. The plans are for a pool 40 feet long and 20 feet wide, with a depth of two feet six inches at one end, sloping to a depth of ‘five feet at the other. Steps will lead into the pool at the shallow end. Surrounding it will be a platform six feet wide and at one end this will be enlarged to provide an area for sun-bathing. Dressing sheds, showers, and conveniences will also be provided at the baths. - The bath itself will be built of concrete finished with trowelled cement work. ’ It will be enclosed by a corrugated iron fence five , feet high. II will be situated on a flat area in the plantation on the slope of the hills above the home. .
People in Budapest will be able to have breakfast in the train on their way to work if a hew scheme under consideration is accepted by the municipality, The proposal is to have one dining, car to every five, passenger cars, fitted with central heating, air conditioning, and refrigerators, where b -akfast, cold meals, and liquid refreshments would be served. >
