Air Marshal Sir Robert Clark-Hall left Christchurch last evening for Wellington to attend a meeting of the Dominion executive of the Boy Scouts’ Association.
Mr Guy H. Bell, of Oakura, president of the New Zealand Jersey Breeders’ Association, has been appointed judge of pedigree Jerseys at the Melbourne Royal Show.—Press Association. Mr M. E. Lyons returned to Christchurch from Wellington yesterday morning. Mr C. Morgan Williams, M.P., was a passenger from the North Island by the steamer express yesterday morning.
The Hon. Sir R. Heaton Rhodes, M.L.C., arrived from the north yesterday morning by the steamer express.
Colonel J. J. Esson was among the passengers from the north by the inter-island steamer express yesterday.
Mr George Hines, Redcliffs, has retired from the captaincy of the Sumner Lifeboat crew, ending 30 years of service with the lifeboats. He was captain for the last 20 years. A motion of sympathy with Mr W. R. Carey, of the Automobile Association (Canterbury), in his indisposition,'was carried at a meeting of the South Island Mptor Union at Oamaru yesterday.
Mr H. G. Livingstone returned to Christchurch from Wellington yesterday. Mr D. H. Todd, managing director of Todd Motors, Ltd., arrived in Christchurch from the north yesterday morning.
Dr. G. I. Miller, Mayor of Ashburton, was reappointed a representative of the Canterbury Education Board on the Ashburton High School Board at a meeting of the Education Board yesterday. Tributes to Dr. Miller’s work on the school board during his previous term were paid by members of the board.
On the motion of Mr Thomas K. Papprill, Mr R. M. Young was admitted by Mr Justice Northcroft as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court.
Mr A. Morton, of Egmont Village, has been appointed chairman of the Massey College Board of Governors, in place of Professor T. A. Hunter, who has resigned. Mr A. E. Mansford. Mayor of Palmerston North, has been appointed vice-chairman. —Press Association. Dr. E. Stanley Jones, who is attending the Australian Christian Endeavour Convention at Melbourne, is expected to visit Auckland on his way back to America.
