GREENS KEPT IN EXCELLENT CONDITION
All members appreciate the action of the executive in opening the greens to those placers who like playing bowls on Sundays, and also for permitting social members who Wish to do so to play, thus increasing the list of social members,”, states the annual report of the Canterbury Bowling Club, to be presented to the fifty-fifth, annual. meeting on June 27. The report reviews a successful season’s play. The season was a long and favourable one, and the excellent condition of both greens was frequently commented on by visitors, the report continues. A membership of 69 active members, 17 social members, and five life members is reported. In play, the best performances were the winning during the season of the champion • of champipn rinks and pairs of the Christchurch centre. The first of a series of annual matches against the'Greymouth Club for the Kilgour Cup was won by the Canterbury Club at Christchurch. Dealing with the finances of the club, the report states that the year began with a dehit balance of £99 10s 6d and ended with a credit of 13s lOd. This result was due to a donation of £SO from an old member and'sums of £2B 14s lOd and £52 18s 8d raised hy two special efforts, which, with other donations, amounted to £142 Ss lid. From these figures the report says that it is evident that the club reouires about £SO a year more than its ordinary revenue. Assets are shown to exceed liabilities by £392 18s lOd.
