SALE OF AEROPLANES TO JAPAN
TO TUB EDITOR OF TB» ,PBEB«. Sir,—The cables report the sale of 2,000,000 dollars’ worth of aeroplanes to Japan from American firms. The world is appalled, at the bombing of the Chinese civilian population; America, among other nations, protests, yet we find aeroplanes going from America to Japan for that purpose. Why? For profit. Profits take preference over all things. And from a Christian country. Some cast slurs at Soviet Russia, but Russia would not supply Japan; the Soviet standard is above it. .Christian capitalism cost the world 10,000,000 lives in the Great War. The mockery of Christian ethics is smacking people in the face more and more. Again we are getting ready for another slaughter. It is inevitable —for profits. And the greed will destroy 10,000 times the trade fought for, apart from human life and misery. With the population already falling in peace time, what a tefrible condemnation of capitalism, profits, and rellgionl And America already in the throes of another depression. How long will the stupidity continue?^—Yours, etc., J. WATSON. Greymouth, June 13, 1938.
