OFFICIAL FORECASTS [THE PRESS Special Service.] WELLINGTON, June 15. The weather forecast for Canterbury and Marlborough issued at 5 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Light to moderate and variable winds, with north-easterlies pre-' dominating. Weather fair to fine; temperatures cold, with some sharp frosts. Seas slight to moderate. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island'-is: Light to fresh south-east to-north-east winds prevailing. Weather fine; mild day but cold night temperatures. Seas slight to moderate. DOMINION The Dominion forecast is:— Some scattered showers still probable between Cape Falliser and East Cape, and from Auckland northwards, but conditions gradually improving; elsewhere weather fair to fine. Temperatures cold, with some sharp frosts. An anticyclone extends from the Tasman across the South Island, but pressure has fallen slightly again in the north.

Winds—Light to moderate and variable south of Westport and Kaikoura, with north-easterlies predominating; moderate south-westerlies in the far north; elsewhere moderate to strong but decreasing south-easterlies. Seas (New Zealand waters)— Rather rough to rough north of Westport and Kaikoura, but decreasing gradually; elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea—South-east to southerly winds, strong in the northern portion, with rough but moderating seas; light to moderate elsewhere, with slight to moderate seas. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch yesterday was fine and sunny. A light north-easterly wind, which got up in the afternoon, made conditions cold, and the maximum temperature during the day was only 43.9 degrees. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was clear and calm, and there was a light mist. The temperature was 36 degrees and the barometer, which was falling slowly, registered 30.23 inches. IN OTHER PLACES Auckland—Yesterday the weather was again cold and rainy, the maximum temperature being 54 degrees and the minimum 43 degrees. The wind was fresh from the south-east until the late afternoon, when it veered to the' north, the change being Accompanied by improved weather. The barometer fell slightly in the afternoon and steadied, with the reading at 5 p.m- 29.95 inches. Wellington—The weather yesterday wAs cold and cloudy, with a light to moderate south-easterly breeze. Some light drizzling rain fell, with occasional very bright intervals. The minimum temperature >on Tuesday night was 42,0 degrees, and the maximum yesterday 49.8. Dunedin-—-After a frost which was severe in some parts of Dunedin, the day was fine, though cold, the maximum temperature being 47 degrees.
