DEALINGS INCREASE §

TARANAKIS AGAIN RISE

The Christchurch Stock Exchange yesterday was more active than recently, with most business in Australian industrials and mines. Taranaki Oils again rose and had sales at 14s lid.

Bank of New Zealand were easier at 43s 3d, market closing 3d either way. Sellers of Goldsbrough, Morts reduced their limits to 275, buyers at 26s 6d. New Zealand Breweries, ex dividend, were weaker, with sellers ana business at 41s, buyers at 40s 9d. Miscellaneous British Tobacco declined to 47s 3d and 47s Id, and more were offered at the lower price, buyers at 475. Broken Hill Proprietary were easier at 58s Od, 57s lid, and 58s, and more were offered at sbs Id. buyers at 57s lid. Sellers of the contributing came down to 35s 2d. Dunlop Rubber were fractionally weaker, with dealings at 20s 5d and further sellers at 20s 2d. Electrolytic Zinc, preference, eased to 40s 3d, and more were offered at 40s 2d. G. J. Coles declined to 80s lid, buyers staying in at that price, sellers at 81s Id. Moturoa Oil moved up to 5s lOd and 6s, and closed with buyers at 6s Id, sellers at 7s. Taranaki Oilfields advanced to dealings at prices ranging from 14s 8d to 14s lid, sellers staying in at the highest price, buyers at 14s lOd. A late sale of Wilcox Mofflin on Tuesday was reported at 6s, and there were dealings yesterday at 5s 8d and further sellers at that price. Woolworths, Ltd., were firm, with buyers and business at 20s 6d, sellers at 20s 7d. Woolworths Properties, “rights,” showed little variation with dealings at 3s 9d and 3s Bd, and these were sellers’ and buyers’ closing quotations respectively. Mining Goldfields Dredging had business at 23d. Broken Hill South, ex dividend, were weaker, with business at 25s 6d, and further sellers at 24s lid, buyers at 235. Mount Lyells, cum dividend, were easier, with dealings at 22s 6d. 22s sd, and 22s 3d, buyers staying in at the lowest price, sellers at 22s 4d. Mount Morgans were fractionally weaker at 8s 2d and 8s Id, market closing 8s buyers, 8s Id sellers. Sellers of North Broken Hill reduced their limits to 355, buyers at 34s 7d. MINING OKARITO The Okarito return is 30oz 16dwt for 112 hours. OPERATIONS IN FIJI Substantial economies will be effected by the two Fijian gold-paining companies, Emperor Gold Mining Company, Ltd., and Loloma (Fiji) Gold Mines N.L., as a result of the erection of a wharf and a lime plant. The erection of the wharf at Vatia will greatly facilitate the handling of mine stores, fuel oil,' and other goods. A site has been selected at Tau for the production of lime requirements for the Tavua field, and the necessary plant will be shipped from America on June 21. The Emperor company reports that its flotation plant was started on May 23. At the No. 2 (300 ft) level encouraging values were encountered in the north drive, which was begun off the 1720 ft west crosscut.
