BOXING

♦ GANZON TO MEET HAMILTON CONTEST IN CITY TO-NIGHT A championship match, which promises to be of a quality seldom seen in the city, will be held in the King Edward Barracks to-night. The contestants are to be Dommy Ganzon, the Filipino who is a contender for the world championship title, and Billy Hamilton, the light-weight champion of Victoria, who beat Clarrie Rayner in Wellington last week. Both men are attractive boxers, with excellent records, and their meeting is eagerly awaited in the city. Hamilton has won many of his victories by knockouts, but he will have a hard task to continue his record in a bout with Ganzon. Ganzon had his final work-out m the Radiant Hall, when he sparred exhibition matches with three wellknown Canterbury boxers, and gave a fast and clever display which augurs well for to-night’s contest. To-night’s bout will be over 15 rounds, and each man has been training hard for it. The contest is expected to attract a big attendance. The preliminaries will be between Norman Fisher and West Jack, and Fritz Holland and J. Candy.
