OBITUAEY

MR L. S. PILGRIM The death occurred recently of Mr L. S. Pilgrim, of 74 Ranfurly street. St. Albans. Mr- Pilgrim was bom in Suffolk, England, in 1874, and came to New Zealand in 1906. In 1908 he married a daughter of the late John Hawes, of Chichester, England. Mr Pilgrim was organist and choirmaster at St. Matthew’s . Anglican Church, St, Albans, for 19 years. He was a keen musician, and Was well known for his work in several 1 parishes. Before the funeral a choral service was held at St. Matthew’s. This was conducted by the Rev. W. E. D. Davies, assisted by Canon S. Hamilton. The pall-bearefs were Messrs R. H. Pilgrim, W. Wilkinson, T. M. Hawes, C. H. Clibborn, A. Bissett. and H. A. Jarden Mr Pilgrim is survived by his widow, twb sons, two daughters, and - one grandchild. - ;■ '■ MR R. L. HARTY [THE PRESS Special Service.] AUCKLAND, June 3. Mr Rupert Leslie Harty, the linesman who received a fatal electric shock by accidentally touching a highpower cable at Blenheim on Tuesday, was formerly a well-known Rugby player. When the first Springboks team visited New Zealand in 1921, he was a representative of the King Country team which met the South Africans at Hamilton. Born in Wellington 42 years ago, Mr Harty was a son of the late Mr J. K. Harty and Mrs A. C. Harty, who is now a resident of Devonport. For some years he was engaged in sheep farming with his brother, Mr W. R. Harty, on Honikiwi, 15 miles west of Otorohanga. His brother still farms the property there. Two other brothers, who were also noted sportsmen, also survive him. They are Dr. E. R. Harty, of Dunedin, and Mr L. P. Harty, of Taumarunm. SIR EDWARD DENHAM (united press association — coPTßiairr.)
