DEATH OF BOYS IN HOSPITAL
CHEMIST TO BE TRIED ON MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE SYDNEY, May 27. The Coroner has concluded his inquiry into the deaths of the two Cobban boys. A verdict was returned that the deaths were due to the effects of a deadly drug" known as paraldehyde, administered in an excessive amount, and were “due to the negligent preparation of medical prescriptions by Walter Feck, a chemist and. dispenser, at the Burwood Friendly Societies’ Dispensary.” Peck was committed for trial on a charge of manslaughter. The two sons of Mr and Mrs J. J. Cobban, of Burwood, died in a Burwood private hospital within six hours of each., other, stated a Sydney message received last week. They were being prepared for a simple tonsil operation. The two boys were Edward John Cobban, aged 15, and James Cobban, aged 13. Both had been given injections of a drug to steady their nerves before the operation. They lapsed into unconsciousness, and an all-night sliuggle to revive them was unavailing.
