HANMER SPRINGS BRANCH The annual meeting of the Hanmer Spring-, branch of the Woman’s Division cx the New Zealand Farmers’ Union was held recently. The following pfHcers were elected: Mrs W. Hanmer Atkinson; vice-presidents. Miss E. Hodges and Mrs P. Morse; advisory members. Mrs G. O. Rutherford. Miss N. Trott; delegate to provincial executive. Mrs G. O. Rutherford: auditor. Mr J. Manson; secretary. Miss A. Lahmert; competitions, Mesdames Ensor, Malaquin. and Peek; sales table, Mesdames Mansfield and Graves. Mrs Nutt, vice-president for Canterbury, and- Mrs Coop, of Kaituna, addressed the meeting. RUSSELL’S FLAT BRANCH The second birthday of the Russell’s Flat Women’s Division of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union was celebrated by an afternoon social, Mrs Colin Mclntosh (provincial president) presided. She congratulated the branch on th? process it had made and oh the satisfactory creditbalance shown. Miss Duncan presented her with a shoulder spray of flowers. Mrs Henry presented Mrs Palmer with a bouquet, and Miss E. Duncan and Mrs Mcllraith with shoulder sprays. Miss G. Searle and Mrs F. Scott were hoste£e& A birthday sake.

BIRTHDAY AT KAIKOURA The sixth birthday party of the Kaikoura branch of the women’s Division of the New Zealand Farmers' Union was held recently. The first part of the evening was devoted to progressive euchre, the winners being Mrs G. G. Newton and Mr E. J. Williams. Consolation prizes were won by Mr and Mrs W. A. Hopkins. Mrs G. M. Hugonin lit the candles on the birthday cake, made by Mrs C. W. Lee and iced by Mrs J. Washington, and cut the cake. Bouquets ■ were presented by the treasurer (Mrs G. O. Newton) to the president (Mrs Hugonin). the secretary (Mrs Lee), and the president of the Women’s Institute (Mrs W. F. Perrin). Mrs M. Leitch was presented with a posy and a pair of slippers.
