Yates (United States) beat R. C. Ewing (Ireland) 2 up and 2. , L. G. Crawley, who" was beaten in a quarter-final by Hector Thomson at the twentieth hole, hotly complained that the Troon gallery six times applauded his bad shots. “I never want to play here again," he said. The gallery of 5000 also did a lot of shouting during the ThomsonlYates semi-final. Earlier results were: — ; Quarter-finals Ross Somerville (Canada) beat H. [W- Hattersley (Australia), 2 up. C.
