AVON CLUB’S RACE A good field contested the Avon Amateur Cycling Club's weekly road race oh Saturday. The course was from Mairehau to Clarkville and back, a distance of 19 miles. The two front bunches, off 4min and smin. .were together at Kaiapoi, and maintained their lead until within three miles of the ■ finishing line. CANTERBURY CENTRE’S ROAD RACE The Canterbury Amateur Cycling Centre held a 26i miles road race from Papanul to Woodend and back In wintry weather on Saturday. Competition for fastest time honours was keen between the next to scratch and the scratch teams. The latter, headed by J. V. O'Donnell, won by only 4-ssec. The final sprint for the handicap resulted in a length and a half win for E. A. McKaskell from a bunch of 20 riders. This was his third successive win. The following were the results:—E. A.
