THE TEES SAILS

DISPUTE SETTLED AFTER A WEEK

SOME NEW MEMBERS JOIN THE CREW

After being held up at Lyttelton for a week because of disputes with the crew, the steamer Tees sailed on Saturday night for the Chatham Islands

Mr P. F. Walsh, president of the Seamen’s Federation, arrived at Lyttelton on Saturday morning and addressed a meeting of seamen at 8.30 a.m. Later he conferred with the agents for the Tees, Messrs W. W. Toy and Company, and a settlement which is said to be satisfactory to both parties was made. The new crew, which included some of the former crew, began work aboard the vessel at 9 a.m., and the Tees sailed at 7.15 p.m. On her present trip to the islands, the Tees will call at Waitangi, Owenga, and Kaingaroa, and will load a full cargo of fish and 150 head of cattle for Wellington. From Wellington she will return to Waitangi to load 150 bullocks for Lyttelton, and she may make still another trip for cattle.
