TINWALD TOWN BOARD
PERMISSION TO TAKE POLL
GRANTED
PROPOSAL TO RAISE LOAN
OF £IOOO
Permission has been granted the Tinwald Town Board to take a poll of ratepayers on the proposal to raise a loan of £IOOO for street improvements according to advice received from the Local Government Loans Board by the Town Board at its meeting on Thursday evening. A condition was that the term of the loan be for seven, instead of 10 years. It was resolved to hold further consideration of this matter over until the next meeting pending advice on other possible financial commitments. Mr H. B. Millichamp (chairman) presided at the meeting. A letter was received from the Ashburton County Council, asking if the board would contribute towards the cost of the work and maintenance on the Ashburton river protection scheme. It was resolved to reply that the board would be prepared to contribute, if the amount was within its financial means.
